617A NO/JHL:lms Docket Nos. 50-280 50-281 50-338 50-339 License Nos.DPR-32 DPR-37 NPF-4 NPF-7 VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 83-28 In our letter dated November 4, 1983, Serial No. 617, Vepco submitted a report entitled "Response to Generic Letter 83-28, Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events".
In this report it was indicated in Items
- 4. 2-3 and 4. 2-4, that the Westinghouse Owners Group was performing a Life Cycle Testing Program on the shunt trip attachment and the undervoltage trip attachment of the reactor trip switchgear and based on the results of this Program, a Periodic Replacement Program would be recommended.
These Programs were to be completed by June 30, 1984.
Vepco has recently been informed by Westinghouse that these Programs were not completed by June 30, 1984.
The overall Westinghouse Owners Group effort related to Generic Letter 83-28 is scheduled to be completed in the Fall of 1984.
These Programs should be completed at that time.
We intend to update you periodically to reflect revisions or additional information and the status of implementation.
