Report for Surry Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 on the environmental qualification of safety-related electrical equipment by letter (Serial No.

085C) dated March 9, 1983. The response provided in this letter did not address Category IV equipment items, since it was not required by the SER.

Your letter of April 4, 1983 advised Vepco of this response requirement.

Attachments 1 and 2 provide the Vepco response to Category IV equipment items. Attachments 3 and 4 are equipment qualification file packages (QDR s) 1 which are submitted in support of specific equipment items identified in Attachments 1 and 2. These QDR s have not been previously submitted to the 1

NRC.

This completes the thirty (30) day response requirements of the April 4, 1983 letter. Additionally, it should be noted that the response to the January 26, 1983 letter with regard to plans for qualification or replacement and a schedule for accomplishing proposed corrective actions (Ninety (90) Day Response) has been superceded by the requirements of 10CFR50.49. In this regard, the Vepco response will be provided by May 20, 1983.
