Serial No. 255 NO/WDC:acm Docket No. 50-281 License No. DPR-37 FIRST 10 YEAR INSERVICE INSPECTION VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY SURRY POWER STATION UNIT 2 Under the ASME Section XI Inservice Inspection program established for Surry Unit 2, the first 10 year interval was to be completed May 1, 1983.
Pursuant to paragraph IWA-2400(a) of ASME Section XI 1974 Edition, Summer 1975 addenda inclusive, we are extending our first 10 year interval for a time period equivalent to the Surry Unit 2 steam generator replacement outage.
This outage commenced February 4, 1979 and ended August 14, 1980, a period of 558 days.
We wish to invoke the extension criteria allowable by the code, establishing November 8, 1984 as the new first interval completion date for Surry Unit 2.
This date may be modified as the code stipulates up to one year to permit inspections to be concurrent with plant outages.
We will continue to perform all required inspections to the 1974 Edition, Summer 1975 addenda Section XI Code as previously stated in our program sub-mittals, except as modified by previous relief requests.
This document serves as notification as to our intent within the options provided by the code.
