VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY 7590-01 NOTICE OF GRANTING OF RELIEF FROM ASME CODE REQUIREMENTS INSERVICE INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS The U. S~ Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has granted relief from certain requirements of the ASME Code,Section XI, "Rules for Inservice Inspection of Nuclear Power Pl ant Components, 11 to Virginia Electric and Power\\Company (the licensee) for the Surry Power:Station, Unit No. 2.

located in Surry County, Virginia.

The ASME Code requirements are incorporated by reference into the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Part so_.

This relief a~lows the *licensee to replace l 1/2 inch drain valves upstream of.the main steam trip valve without performing hydrostatic test for the entire steam generators and a cpnsiderable portion of the main steam piping. A lea~age :test will be performed instead. This relief is the same as that.provided in. NRC 1 etter dated October 1, 1982, for lJnit 1 and the Evaluation of Relief Request with that letter-applies to.this relief request.

In this instancei:two steam generators are affected instead of one previously.

The request for this granting of relief complies with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954,.as:,:amended (the Act), and the Commi~sion's rules and regulations. The Commission has _1~ade appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, w~ich are set forth in the Evaluation of Relief Request dated October 1, 1982.
