This letter is to inform you that we have completed all p1p1ng and support analyses associated with the Order to Show Cause dated March 13, 1979, and that all modifications resulting from these analyses have been installed.
Verification of nozzle loads and valve weights for this piping is still in
- progress, awaiting vendor confirmation.
Your letter of August 22, 1979, enclosed the Order lifting the suspension of facility operations required by the March 13, 1979 Order and noting that, "The licensee to date has not com-pleted the actions identified in paragraph number 2 of the Order to Show Cause dated March 13, 1979, and this order does not affect that portion of the March 13, 1979 order."
The Order
- enclosed with your letter of August 22, 1979, further noted that, "The licensee has committed to (1) shut down the facility if a seismic event occurs, which results in accelerations greater than an acceleration level of
- 0. Olg, the setpoint of the facility's accelerometers, and (2) inspect those piping systems and supports which have not been shown to be fully acceptable for the Operating Basis Earthquake (QBE) case (ground acceleration of 0.07g).
This commitment is required only until such time that the reanalysis for the QBE loading condition, and any necessary modificatio!).s, is completed.'.'
Since all piping and support analyses have been completed and all modifica-tions resulting from these analyses have been installed, paragraph 2 of the March 13, 1979 Order and the commitments of the August 22, 1979 Order have been satisfied.
Therefore, we request that the commitments imposed by the Show Cause Order of March 13, 1979, be lifted in total at this time.
Surry Power Station will continue to operate in accordance with all Technical Specification requirements.
