CRITERIA FOR LOW PRESSURE NUCLEAR TURBINE DISC INSPECTION SURRY POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 Serial No. 528 NO/SGE:lms Docket Nos. 50-280 50-281 License Nos. DPR-32 DPR-37 We have reviewed your letter dated August 19, 1981 and the attached safety evaluation report concerning Criteria For Low Pressure Nuclear Turbine Disc Inspection for North Anna Units 1 and 2.
We agree and commit to use this criteria for all future disc inspections at Surry.
We also understand that this commitment will eliminate the need for Vepco to submit future inspection results to the staff or to transmit the computerized disc data sheets that are prepared by Westinghouse.
We would like to point out that if our calculated inspection interval is less than the scheduled fuel cycle, Vepco will seek Westinghouse's guidance on delaying the inspection until the refueling outage.
If the calculated inspection interval is longer than the fuel cycle, Vepco would also seek Westinghouse's guidance for scheduling this inspection at a later refueling outage.
Criterion No. 4 allows the inspection to be sooner or later (within limits acceptable to Westinghouse) than the calculated date so as to coincide with a scheduled outage.
