Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

Thank you for your letter of August 14, 1981. In that letter you offered to hold in abeyance my request for an ex-tension of time to request a hearing on environmental qual-ification; under your proposal I would have until 30 days af-ter the Coromission has completed its action on the industry's petition to extend the June 30, 1982, deadline for equipment qualification to June 30, 1983.

This course of action is acceptable to Virginia Electric and Power Company, and so I affirm it as you requested in your letter. Within 30 days after the Commission has com-pleted its action on the industry petition, I will inform you of Vepco's intent either to pursue or not to pursue a public hearing and, if Vepco requests a hearing, of the specific issues that we intend to raise.
