Dear Mr. Denton:

Serial No. 773 LQA/WRM:rab Docket Nos. 50-280 50-281 License Nos. DPR-32 DPR-37 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SURRY POWER STATION UNITS NO. 1 AND NO. 2 PROfOSED TECHNICAL. SPECIFICATION CHANGE NO. 85 In our letter dated May 15, 1980 (Serial No. 4oor, we proposed changes to the Technical Specifications for Surry Units No. 1 and No. 2 to permit an increase in the enrichment limit for new fuelo In response to a verbal request posed by a member of your staff, we are providing information on the annual uranium feed requirements for a Surry Nuclear Unit for a range of discharge burnups.

The table provided in gives the enrichment, the number of assemblies, the U303 feed requirements, and the SWU requirements on both an annual basis and a life-time basis for one Surry unit.

The annual feed and SWU requirements shown in the table are higher, and thus considered conservative, when compared to the results from studies of higher burnup effects on annual fuel requirements.

If you require any additional information, please contact this office.

1.

This reload batch size and enrichment is for equilibrium 18 month reload cycles.

2.

This total is for the number of 18 month reload cycles remaining in the 40 year licensed lifetime for Surry Unit 1 or 2 (i.e., 27 years).

3.

These annual feed and SWU requirements are conservative (i.e., higher) than preliminary results from studies of the effect of high burnup on annual fuel requirements.
