BULLETIN NO. 79-02, REVISION NO. 2 SURRY POWER STATION UNITS 1 & 2 Item 5 of I.E. Bulletin No. 79-02, Revision No. 2 addresses piping supports in Seismic Category I systems which are attached to conciete block (masonry) walls with expansion anchor bolts.
Our response to the Bulletin dated December 7, 1979, Serial No. 943A/110879, identified five pipe supports as being on block walls and stated that we were continuing our inspection.
We have now completed our inspection of the accessible and inaccessible areas of Surry Units 1 and 2.
A total of 18 Seismic Category I supports attached to masonry walls were identified. All of these supports are -in the Auxiliary Building and are accessible during operation.
The types of anchors installed appear to be shell or sleeve type anchors with bolts or screws used to attach the supports.
The systems, line sizes, numbers of supports, types of anchor bolts, and types of supports involved are summarized below:

In lieu of providing the detailed evaluation required by the Bulletin, we are designing modifications to-remove these supports from the concrete block walls.
We expect to have these mo~ifications designed and installed by the end of February, 1980.
