1204 W. Orchard Ln Carlsbad, NM, 88220 Email: rwdoss1026@gmail.com General Comment My name is Richard Doss. I am a third generation Carlsbad resident. I am past president of The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, former Mayor pro-tem, immediate past Secretary of The Energy Coalition Alliance

[ECA] and a retired Banker. Having been deeply involved with the ECA I have obtained more than an average level of knowledge concerning some of the Nuclear history and problems concerning the industry and the need for solutions to the end of the fuel cycle. The removal of spent fuel rods from the dangerous places they are currently housed, on a cliff overlooking the Pacific ocean at San Onofre which sits on a major fault, by rivers, lakes and amid highly densely populated areas is critical to the safety and health of our nation.

The economic impact on the nation is staggering to house this nuclear material and can be mitigated by shipping it to a Consolidated Storage Site such as the one proposed to be located at the Eddy-Lea site in Southeast New Mexico. Its operation by Holtec International will result in saving Billions of hotel costs for the US Taxpayer as well as secure the material in a remote, dry, stable environment. I as well as my family hardily endorse the rapid approval of this application Page 1 of 1 05/17/2018 https://www.fdms.gov/fdms/getcontent?objectId=090000648322ba1c&format=xml&showorig=false 46/4*3FWJFX$PNQMFUF
