r PUBLIC SUBMISSION Docket: NRC-2018-0052 As of: 5/9/18 6:52 AM Received: May 05; 2018 Status: Pending_Post Tracking No. lk2-92z9-243b Comments Due: May 29, 2018 Submission Type: Web Holtec International HI-STORE Consolidated Interim Storage Facility Project Comment On: NRC-2018-0052-0001 Holtec International HI-STORE Consolidated Interim Storage Facility Project Document: NRC-2018-0052-DRAFT-0051 Comment on FR Doc# 2018-06398 Submitter Information Name: Anonymous Anonymous General Comment I respectfully disagree with Holtec's Application and ask that it not be approved. I live in Carlsbad and have for 42 years. I do not want Souteastern New Mexico to become the "Nuclear Wast Dump" of the world. One project here being the WIPP site is sufficient. Additionally, accidents do happen and containers get breached.

There is no man made waste container or system in the world which is not subject to a breach or failure. We already had one container breach at the WIPP site near Carlsbad which resulted in the facility being shut down for 11/2 years. Materials inside the container, which included cat litter, caused the breach and the rupture of the container. Also, the proposed Holtec facility is for really "Hot" nuclear waste being spent fuel rods. This type of nuclear waste is very dangerous to health and safety of human beings. One facility here in Southeatern New Mexico is more than enough. I ask that the Holtec Application be rejected. As a community member am very much opposed to the project and will not support it.
