CLOSED MEETING WITH THE NUCLEAR ENERGY INSTITUTE AND INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES PANEL TO DISCUSS IMPLEMENTATION OF FIREARMS SIMULATION TRAINING SYSTEMS AND MULTIPLE INTEGRATED LASER ENGAGEMENT SYSTEMS TO MEET REGULATORY TRAINING REQUIREMENTS On April 24, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed meeting with the Nuclear Energy Institute and industry representative panel members to discuss implementation of Firearms Simulation Training Systems and Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement Systems (MILES) to meet training requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 73.55 and Part 73.55, Appendix B, and the subsequent regulatory guides published in support of the training requirements. The Category 3, closed meeting, was held at NRC Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. The enclosure contains the agenda for the meeting.
The focus of the meeting was a discussion surrounding current use of Firearms Simulation Training Systems and MILES equipment and current licensees that are using these systems to meet training requirements. Specifically, upon initial fielding of these systems, licensees are and will continue to use these devices to conduct weapons familiarization training.
No regulatory decisions were requested and no regulatory decisions were made.
