3/30/2018 CITATION# 83 FR 13802 I fully support storage of nuclear waste in S/E New Mexico for the following reasons.
New Mexico already has a nuclear footprint at WIPP, there has already been a spill which was contained and the site is in operation.
We as a nation have the responsibility to rectify this issue, the Yucca Mountain site is not sufficient to store all the present waste nor in my opinion it will never open. The E. I. S. will be brutal and enduring.
In my opinion the better choice was the deep bore hole concept but the uninformed public chose to oppose even the non nuclear research sites and the Yucca Mountain site is burdened with legal and technical issues which leaves the options to remedy this issue practically impossible to resolve.
New Mexico is financially known as a DEATH SPIRAL STATE the best way to change that fiasco is to move forward with the revenue that will come with a waste site, which will face an almost impossible task to get approved if ever.
America will chose a solution when we are tasked with a environmental catastrophe due to the lack of courage to do something.
