PUBLIC SUBMISSION Docket: NRC-2018-0052 As of: 5/1/18 10:03 AM Received: April 30, 2018 Status: Pending_Post Tracking No. lk2-92w0-v2ug Comments Due: May 29, 2018 Submission Type: Web Holtec International HI-STORE Consolidated Interim Storage Facility Project Comment On: NRC-2018-0052-0001 Holtec International HI-STORE Consolidated Interim Storage Facility Project Document: NRC-2018-0052-DRAFT-003 7 Comment on FR Doc# 2018-06398 Submitter Information Name: Anonymous Anonymous General Comment I strongly oppose this proposal based on the risk involved for contamination of transport workers and others along the route to the site. It also appears that the science involved in the transport and storage of these materials is incomplete and inadequate to protect both local citizens and the environment. Fracking in the Permian Basin has increased greatly making Holtec at greater risk of seismic activity. Storage in an "interim" location is unrealistic since transport of the proposed containers would soon become dangerous and unfeasible due to deterioration and the processes to repair broken casks have not been developed. It has also been revealed that the cask bracket system used to hold the fuel rods immobile is failing. Please refer back to the excellent recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission.
