SUBJECT:
SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 79-03 SURRY POWER STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
- ?:>
co..
co Our initial response to IE Bulletin 79-03, dated April 16, 1979, stated that 300 feet of 10" fusion-welded Type 304 SS pipe from Albert Pipe Supply Company was used in the Low Head Safety Injection modification in September 1975.
Further investigation has revealed that the purchase order placed for this pipe contained a requirement for 100% x-ray of all pipe delivered.
The purchase order was filled as written and no abnormal indications were found in the pipe.
Consequently, a program for volumetric examination of the pipe is not required.
~
The initial response also noted that Vepco and Stone and Webster were continuing a review of records to determine if any more of the subject ASME SA312 Type.304 or 316 pipe was installed in any safety related sys-tems at Surry.
This review has now been completed and it bas been deter-mined that, with the exception of the piping discussed in the preceding paragraph, none of the subject piping is installed or planned for installa-tion at Surry Power Station.
