\\*/ith respect to your request that the Huc*1ear Re~1ul atory Commission I s staff be pr~pared to expedite ~1e review of the Sur~y Power Station pipe stress reanalyses, certain steps have already been taken by the staff hwtard this end.

power plant were established within the staff of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.

by tlie Vfr~inia Electric and Pm1er Company (VEPCO) 1,vitl1 respect _to the Surry shutdown order.

The Surry review team has met with the lic0.nsee at the site of the Sur'ry facility and has travelled to the Stone and H<~bster offices jn Boston to review the preliminary reanalysis r<-:sults.

Surry Unit No. 2 has been shut clovm for steam generator replacement, and a stress analysis of the Unit !fo. 2 piping systr~rns 1)ill follo\\'1 the current reanalysis effort for Unit r~o.
