COOLING WATER TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTIAL 094 50-280 50-281 DPR-32 DPR-37 This letter report is furnished in accordance with the provisions of Surry Power Station Technical Specification 4.14.G.1.

During the period 0845 to 0905 hours0.0105 days <br />0.251 hours <br />0.0015 weeks <br />3.443525e-4 months <br /> on February 2, 1979, the difference between the river water ambient temperature measured at the station high level intake and the cooling water at the discharge control structure exceeded the 15~F permitted in Technical Specification 4.14.A.2 by O.* s*F.

This event was caused by a river temperature change due to weather conditions and is not related to unit power operations.

No corrective actions to prevent recurrence are required.

A search was made for evidence that the temperature differential rate experienced had affected the river or its inhabitants.

No evidence of any detrimental effects were found.
