In letter dated October 6, 2017 Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) submitted for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) review and approval, proposed Alternatives FNP-ISI-ALT-05-02 and VEGP-ISI-ALT-04-02 for use of Alternative Requirements for American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

Class 1 Upper Level Instrumentation Lines on the Pressurizer for Farley Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2 and Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Units 1 and 2, respectively.

Subsequent to the submittal of the proposed alternatives, on December 1, 2017, a teleconference was held between SNC and NRC personnel to discuss the proposed alternatives. During this meeting, it was determined that the proposed alternatives are not required to be submitted due to NRC previous approval of this issue as a construction code approval. Therefore, SNC is withdrawing FNP-ISI-ALT-05-02 and VEGP-ISI-ALT-04-02 from NRC review and approval.
