Dear Senator Chiles:
- I am bewildered-and.confused about the problem's concerning-the 'opening of the second nuclear power plant on Hutchinson Island. 'here has been constant controversy on this subject reported in the News Tribune, our local newspaper.
There is some obstacle prolonging construction, and I would. be very much interested in knowing what it is.
My personal feelings on this, are that it will provide much needed employment for many persons who '~re now out of work.
As l'or the environmental aspect, I do not believe that radiation will be a problem due to the numerous testing procedures that are mandatory for a project of this natu'.e.
Can you possibly advise me if any definate progress has been made at this time, or is it still in the planning stages?
I would appreciate a reply, as 'I am interested in the result of this endeavor.
