Dear Senator Stone:

I am writing in regard to some of the actions'r inactions of Florida Power and Light Company.

These actions affect a large number of people who are employed by contractors doing work for F. P.

& L.

F. P.

& L. insists that another nuclear unit must be built at Hutchinson Island or by 1983 we in Florida will have a power shortage.

Mith this we are in agreement, however there are some questions that should be asked of F. P.

& L.

Since the unemployment in this area is far above the national average and since there is a growing concern over radiation and a power shortage is imminent

~wh is F. P.

& L. dragging it's feet on the large power plant being constructed at Martin County's Indiantown Plant?

The Martin County plant is capable of producing more electricity with no radiation or site problems but F.. P.

& L. is slowing down construction and in fact is planning a virtual work stoppage in January 1977.

This is playing politics with approximately 1200 working men' jobs. If a plant employing 1200 men in your district were to close down I am sure you would try to help the'nemployed; here is a chance to help before they become unemployed, C. S. Dri r, Jr.

Don't let F, P.

& L. play for a rate increase and nuclear plant location in the guise of a power shortage in 1983, when in fact they are deliberately bringing about that same shortage.

Please check the facts then try to help.

Thank you,

~
