Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) hereby supplements our request for revision to the Technical Specifications (TS) for Salem Generating Station Unit 1 and Unit 2 (PSE&G letter LR-N970150, dated November 14, 1997). As required by 10CFR50.91(b)(1}, a copy of this supplemental submittal has been sentto the State of New Jersey.

The Reference request proposed administrative and editorial changes to the Salem Unit 1 and Unit 2 TS. PSE&G requested the changes to correct editorial and administrative errors iri the TS that have existed since the initial issuance of the TS or were introduced during previous changes to the TS. This supplement revises the original request to

reflect changes made by amendments issued since the initial submittal. Two of these amendments added one-time changes (as footnotes) which are no longer applicable.

This supplement deletes these footnotes. Additionally this supplement proposes a change identified subsequent to the Reference submittal that corrects an error issued in Amendment 69 for Salem Unit 2.

A 10CFR50.92 evaluation with a determination of no significant hazards consideration was provided as Attachment 2 to the Reference.

The revisions proposed by this supplement do not alter the no significant hazards determination as submitted with the Reference.

PSE&G has reviewed this proposed supplement and the original license change request against the criteria of 10 CFR 51.22 for environmental considerations. The proposed changes do not involve a significant hazards consideration, nor increase the types and amounts of effluents that may be released offsite, nor increase individual or cumulative occupational radiation exposures. Based on the foregoing, PSE&G concludes that the proposed change meets the criteria delineated in 10 CFR 51.22(c)(9) for a categorical exclusion from the requirements for an Environmental Impact Statement. to this supplement describes the revisions to the original submittal for Salem Unit 1. Attachment 2 describes the revisions to the original submittal for Salem Unit 2. provides the marked up Technical Specification pages. These pages include not only the pages affected by this supplement, but also all of the marked up pages replacing the revised pages provided in the Reference submittal in their entirety.
