Box 236 Hancock's Bridge, New Jersey 08038 April 9, 1999 SUBJECT: SALEM UNIT 1AND2 REACTOR OPERATOR AND SENIOR REACTOR OPERATOR INITIAL EXAMINATION REPORT NOs. 50-272/99-301 AND ' 50-311/99-301 Dear Mr. Keiser: This report transmits the results of the subject operator licensing examinations conducted by the NRC during the period of February 22 - March 5, 1999. These examinations addressed areas important to public health and safety and were developed and administered using the guidelines of the "Examination Standards for Power Reactors" (NUREG-1021, Interim Revision 8). Based on the results of the examinations, 8 of 8 Senior Reactor Operator and 7 of 8 Reactor Operator . (RO) applicants passed all portions of the examinations. One RO applicant failed tf)e written portion of the examination. The preliminary major findings and performance conclusions as a result of the examination were discussed between Mr. P. Bissett, myself, and.Mr. D: Jackson and others of your staff (via telephone conference call on March 19, 1999).
In accordance with 10 CFR 2. 790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter arid its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
