Salem Generating Station Unit 1 Docket Nos. 50-272 License Change Request LCR S97-33 Containment Purging Public Service Electric and Gas Company submitted the subject change request to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on December 11, 1997. The proposed amendment would allow for a one-time exemption to allow containment purging in Modes 3 and 4 so that gasses generated during the first heat up of new insulation in Salem Unit 1 can be dissipated ..

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau ofNuclear Engineering reviewed the above request in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.91(b), discussed the change request with both PSE&G and the NRC, and has no comments.
