- on October 24, 1996, in accordance with the requirements.of 10 CFR 50.;90,. *Public. Service* Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) I submitted to.the U. s. Nuclear* Regulatory* Commission (NRC) the subject request seeking to revise the eighteen month surveillance procedure and frequency in TS 3/4.7.1.2, to permit testing of the TDAFWP which can only be performed when sufficient secondary pressure is available.
The proposed change will expand the TS to include surveillance of the automatic valve which allows inlet steam to the TDAFWP.
It
- will also provide fo:c the TDAF'W pump surveillance to be performed 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> after the secondary side pressure becomes greater than 680 pounds per square inch gage (psig); this will allow appropriate quality steam to become ~vailable.
At such times, the unit will have entered Operati.onal* Mode 3 (Hot Standby), and thus able to perform 'the required pump test, which the plant's operating experience has shown can only be performed when appropriate quality steam *is* available.

Engineering Safety Features (ESF) response. time testing.
The requested change aims at achieving consistency with the changes proposed for TS 4.7.1.2(c)2 in the aforementioned October 24, 1996, request, and is essentially editorial.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Nuclear Engineering (BNE),
reviewed the subject request in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.91(b).
Based on this review, the BNE has no comments.
