STEAM GENERATOR TUBE INSPECTIONS AND TESTING SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NO 1 DOCKET NO. 50-272 On May 16, 1996, Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) announced its intent to replace the Salem Unit No. 1 steam generators prior to restart of the unit.
This letter provides notification to the NRC that PSE&G has suspended all activities associated with steam generator tube inspections, analysis, and testing on the current Salem Unit No. 1 steam generators.
In light of PSE&G's commitment to replace the current steam generators, further financial expenditures and additional man-rem burden on site personnel resulting from these activities is no longer warranted.
To assure operability of the replacement steam generators, all applicable steam generator Technical Specification inspections and testing will be completed prior to
