This letter is to provide confirmation that Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) has completed the long term actions pertaining to Generic Letter 93-04, Rod Control System Failure and Withdrawal of Rod Cluster Control Assemblies, 10CRFR50.54(f).
The NRC's Request for Additional Information (RAI) dated December 19, 1994, requested that PSE&G inform the staff in writing when the Westinghouse Owners Group recommended current order timing modification was implemented for the Salem Generating stations.
PSE&G had responded to the RAI on January 27, 1995, (ref. LR-95010), stating that the Unit 2 modification had been completed during the eighth refueling outage in 1994 and that the Unit 1 modification would be completed during the twelfth refueling outage in 1995.
Salem Unit 1 entered the twelfth refueling outage in September of 1995 and continues in an extended outage to replace the Steam
.Generators.
During this present outage, the current timing modification was incorporated into the Rod Control System for Unit 1.
Implementation of this modification completes the actions requested of PSE&G relative to the Generic Letter and subsequent RAI.-
