.,.;.* SALEM AND HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATIONS DOCKET NOS. 50-272, 50-311, AND 50-354 In response to Generic Letter 86-04, Public Service Electric and Gas Company {PSE&G) s~ated that the Salem and Hope Creek stations

_use qualified Shift Technical Advisors (STAs) who are also qualified as Senior Reactor Operators. To provide operational staffing flexibility and to focus on the STA's primary role of providing engineering expertise and an independent plant safety perspective on shift while still meeting the policy guidance of the Generic Letter and the plants' Technical Specifications (TS),

PSE&G now plans to use both licensed and non-licensed STAs.

All STAs will continue to meet the education *and experience requirements as stated.in the applicable committed standards and each facility's TS. The STA training programs for both Salem and Hope Creek are task-based and accredited by INPO.
