Salem Unit 1 -- Docket Nos. 50-272 and 50-311 Facility Operating License DPR-70 One-time Extension of Technical Specifications Surveillance Requirement 4.8.1.2 for Electrical Power Systems--Shutdown, License Amendment Request (LCR)
LCR 95-12 On Septe-rr.ber 28, 1995, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) a request for the aforementioned license amendment.
The licensee is requesting one-time extension to the requirements of Technical Specification 3/4.8.1.2 Electric Power Systems -
AC Sources -Shutdown.
PSE&G is requesting a test interval extension for certain portions of the.diesel generator 18 month surveillance requirements.
PSE&G seeks to complete the specified'surveillance tests sometime prior to entering Mode 4 (Hot Shutdown) from their current extended maintenance/refueling outage, but not on the normal 18 month frequency.
Specifically, the.' licensee; states *that these surveillance tests are intended to be**performed with:.the reactor assembled, therefore to perform them during the outage with limited availability of electrical power could

The Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Nuclear Engineering (BNE) has reviewed the request, in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.9l(b), and concurs with the proposed one-time change request.
