DPR-70 AND DPR-75 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 609-339-5700 By letter dated May 13, 1994, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) committed to provide augmented oversight of plant activiti~s prior to restart of Salem Unit No. 1 following the April 7, 1994 reactor trip and safety injection.
PSE&G implemented this commitment by establishment of a Management Observation Group (MOG).
By letter dated July 22, 1995, (ref:
LR-N95024), PSE&G withdrew the commitment to maintain the MOG.
In the July 22, 1995 letter, PSE&G stated that while it was withdrawing the commitment, it was not eliminating the MOG function and would maintain a level of MOG coverage commensurate with plant conditions.
The purpose of this letter is to clarify that statement.
PSE&G will not maintain the MOG as a separate organization.
PSE&G management and supervisory personnel will provide the necessary oversight and PSE&G is continuing to take actions to improve the management oversight effectiveness.
