COMBINED INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-272/95-06 AND 50-311/95-06
Dear Mr. Eliason:
This letter refers to an inspection conducted by Mr. S. K. Chaudhary of this
office during the periods of March 13-17 and March 27-31, 1995, at the
Salem. Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey.
Mr. Chaudhary discussed the findings of this inspection by telephone with your
staff on April 11, 1995.
The telephone exit was organized by Mr. R. Villar of
your staff.
The inspection was intended to promote public health and safety and focused on
the piping and pipe support modification and design changes in both units.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of
procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and
observation by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, we noted that the configuration baseline
documentation program is satisfactory; however, a PSE&G internal evaluation of
safety concerns raised by a former employee was still in progress, thus this *
item remains open for further review by the NRC.
No reply to this letter is necessary, and your cooperation with us is
appreciated.
