Subject:

Hope Creek Generating Station Docket Nos. 50-272 & 50-354 Amendment to Facility Operating License License Change Request 94-21 The subject request was sribmitted* 0to* the NRC 'by PSEScG *letter dated September 29, 1994. The:reqliest 1proposes to*inodify Sections 3/4. 3. 6 of the Hope Creek Generating Station (HCGS)

Technical Specifications to allow a change to the calibration frequency of the Source Range Monitors and the Intermediate Range Monitors from once per 184 days to once per refueling outage.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Nuclear Engineering (BNE) has reviewed the request in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50. 91 (b).

NRC Generic Letter (GL) 93-05 and NUREG-1366 were reviewed and compared to this License Change Request.

Plant specific SRM/IRM set point trend data were discussed with plant personnel.

Hope Creek experienced a SCRAM related to SRM/IRM calibration testing while at full power on August 1, 1994.

Since the reliability of the Hope Creek SRM/IRM data meets the requirements of GL 93-05 and NUREG-1366, the State of New Jersey determined that this change has minimal impact to plant safety.

If you have any questions, please contact Dave Vann at (609) 987-2033 or Rich Pinney at (609) 987-2086.
