October 4, 1993 subject:

Salem Generating Station Units Nos. 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-272 and 50-311 Amendment to the Facility Operating License License Change Request 93-17 Director The subject request was submitted to the NRC by PSE&G letter dated June 11, 1993 and supplemented by PSE&G letters dated July 19, 1993 and September 16, 1993.

The request proposes to revise the Salem Units 1 and 2 T~chnical Specifications to reduce the required boric.-acid concentration maintained in the boric acid tank a*nd increase the required delivery rate so that the net boration rate* remairis the same.

The reduction in concentration will eliminate the need for heat tracing the boric acid tank to preclude precipitation of boron.
