- Don, The draft SEB RAI on LAR-17-037 provides several generalizations regarding application of the proposed screening criteria.
It uses terminology like:
- it is not clear as to how the critical sections would be screened using the above criteria (Are you asking about the process?)
- The application of this criteria may lead the applicant to conclude that the parameters of the critical sections can be modified in the field using available NRC change processes
- The staff finds instances where the application of this criterion will not yield the desired results. (What does the staff consider the desired results?)
(These are just examples of generalized text in the draft RAI that require clarification. We are hoping to have a good back-and-forth discussion with this staff regarding these issues on Thursday. As we discussed, we will have the UFSAR available for reference to specific Tier 2* information during this call.)
The licensee requests a clarification call to discuss more specific examples, rather than generalized concerns, regarding the specific requirements in the UFSAR and their relationship to the codes.
