SUMMARY

OF MANAGEMENT ACTIONS suspensions based on presumptive positives:

o Reportable events:

1 On December 16, 1992, a supervisor was called for random testing.

BAC tested at less than.04%.

The subject admitted drinking the night prior to a scheduled work shift, but denied violating the five (5) hour rule.

The Medical Review Officer made an unfitness determination and plant access was immediately terminated.

The subject was immediately referred to the Nuclear Employee Assistance Counsellor for evaluation.

The evaluation resulted in referral for further assessment and outpatient treatment of alcohol abuse.

The individual was returned to non-access work while he completed his program.

After verification of completion and thorough re-evaluation by the Nuclear Employees Assistance Program Counsellor, the subject was returned to access status and usual supervisory duties.

He continues to be monitored through the Nuclear Employees Assistance Program.

Appeals/Resolutions:

During the time period July 1, 1992 to December 31, 1992, nine appeals have been filed, resolved, and communicated by certified mail to those involved.

o Two fitness-for-duty appeals involved claims that over the counter medications caused or contributed to positive alcohol test results.

o One fitness-for-duty appeal involved allegations that NIDA laboratory results were incorrect.

o Four psychological appeals were the result of access denials based on histories of prior, as well as current alcohol and drug use.

o Two security appeals resulted in access denials based on determinations of untrustworthiness and unreliability.

o No appeals resulted in reversal of original action.

SUMMARY

OF TELEPHONE REPORTED EVENTS On December 16, 1992 PSE&G reported an incident involving alcohol use by a supervisor.
