RETRACTION OF DISCHARGE REPORT PUBLIC SERVICE ELECTRIC AND GAS COMPANY SALEM GENERATING STATION CASE NO. 92-07-19-1719-17 On July 19, 1992, PSE&G reported an oil sheen on the Delaware River in the area between the service water intake structure and circulating'water system intake at the Salem Generating Station.
The source of the discharge was reported as unknown.
The discharge was reported to the NJDEPE Hotline and was assigned Case No. 92-07-19-1719-17 by Operator 8.
PSE&G believes that it acted in accordance with the intent of NJAC 7:1E-5, which requires all major facilities to notify NJDEPE of discharges of petroleum and other hazardous substances in any concentration to the ground or waters of the State.
How~ver, upon investigation of this incident, by examination of permitted outfalls and potential discharge sources, PSE&G has determined that the sheen on the River did not result from any activities or operations at this facility.
