SUPPLEMENT TO REQUEST FOR AMENDMENT SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 FACILITY OPERATING LICENSES DPR-70 AND DPR-75 DOCKET NOS. 50-272.AND 50-311 In accordance with the requirements of 10CFR5o'. 90, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) hereby transmits a request for

  • amendment of Facility Operating Licenses DPR-70 and DPR-75 for Salem Unit Nos. 1 and 2.

Pursuant.to the requirements of 10CFR50.91(b) (1), a copy of this request for amendment has been sent to the State of New Jersey.

This submittal supplements the changes proposed in PSE&G letter NLR-N90113, dated May 31, 1990.-

Action b. of Salem Unit 1 and 2 Technical Specifications 3.3.3.8 and 3.3.3.9, is being revised to change "operable" to "OPERABLE."

This proposed change would clarify that the term "OPERABLE, 11.as defined in Section 1 of the Technical Specifications, applies to the affected Action statements.

This proposed change does not involve any new interpretation of the Technical Specification operability requirements.

This_submittal also proposes a change to Salem Unit 2 Technical Specification Table 6.2~1, Minimum Shift Crew Composition.

The table includes footnotes to identify shift crew positions which may be satisfied by one individual for both'Salem units.

The footnotes as submitted in our May 31, 1990 letter state that certain individuals (filling Unit 2 shift positions) may also fulfill the requirements for Unit 2.

The proposed change would revise the footnotes to change "Unit 2 11 to "Unit 1, 11 which is consistent with the original intent of the footnotes and Unit 2 Amendment 33 as issued by the NRC. contains the revised Technical Specification pages.

For convenience, the changes to the affected pages, proposed in our letter dated May 31, 1990, have been included in the attachment.

Therefore, the Determination of No Significant Hazards Consideration, provided in PSE&G's letter dated May 31, 1990, remains valid.
