STATUS OF.EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PERSONNEL ACCOUNTABILITY PROJECT SALEM AND HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATIONS DOCKET NOS. 50-272, 50-311 AND 50-354 Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) has identified in Inspection Report 50-354/89-14 a corrective action for.annual accountability drills being unable td consistently account for personnel within 30 minutes.

The corrective action was to have an automated accountability system implemented and operational in J,.991.

The project has now b'een approved and an implementation schedule will be provided in March 1992.

In the interim, short term corrective actions have been instituted that have resulted in less time for accounting of personnel.

The accountability process was streamlined* by addition of a new high speed printer and the enhancement of applicable procedures.

The approach PSE&G will choose will be* the most cost effective program to meet the 30 minute personnel ac~ountability criteria.
