CONFIRMATORY LETTER BULLETIN 89-02 SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NO. 1 DOCKET NO. 50-272 Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) has performed a review of our engineering documentation regarding types and composition of swing check valves in use at Salem Generating Station, Unit No. 1 in accordance with Bulletin 89-02.
We hereby confirm that Salem Unit No. 1 has ten Anchor-Darling, Model S350W swing check valves.
In addition, eight Velan swing check valves using the same type bolting were identified.
All eighteen valves were inspected during the last two refueling outages to ensure an acceptable stud material was installed.
All Anchor-Darling studs were replaced with upgraded material.
On the Velan valves, any retaining block stud that was unacceptable was replaced with an upgraded material.
No cracks were noted on any of the studs.
