RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 90-03 SALEM AND HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATIONS DOCKET NOS. 50-272, 50-311 & 50-354 On September 24, 1990, PSE&G submitted its response to Generic Letter 90-03 regarding vendor interface for safety-related equipment.
As was discussed between our Licensing Department and Mr. D. LaBarge of your staff, that response was unclear.
We apologize for the lack of focus in our initial response and hereby provide a more detailed response.
This letter is structured to address the programmatic elements as described in the generic letter and replaces our initial response in its entirety.
- 1.
PSE&G has reviewed its vendor interface program as requested by Generic Letter 90-03 and we conclude that our program already meets the provisions described in element (a) of the letter.
- 2.
We have modified our vendor interface program to address the Category (b) elements as described in the generic letter.
Development of th'.'ese program additions entailed:
The development of selection criteria in addition to those mentioned in the generic letter, A comprehensive review of all safety-related components to identify key equipment,
- Building a database of vendor related information to facilitate the phone calling and to log the results of the calls, and
- Proceduralizing the vendor contact process for control and accountability purposes.
