NOTIFXCATION OF NONCOMPLIANCE WITH EFFLUENT LXMXTATXONS-NPDES PERMIT NO. AL0022080 - BROWNS PERRY NUCLEAR PLANT Descri tion.of the dischar eDischarge No.
006 Sewage treatment plant effluent.
A sample collected on, April 15, 1982 and reported by. the laboratory on April 27 contained 47 mg/L of BODg, exceeding the maximum permit limitation of 45 mg/L.
Cause and eriod of the noncom liance This 30,000 gpd sewage. treatment system is.hydraulically and organically overloaded.
The. daily total glow was 69,000 gpd on the day the noncompliance occurred and averaged 68,448 gpd for the three days prior to the noncompliance.
The,large and variable flows and poor settling caused solids to be carried over into the chlorine contact tank and into the effluent resulting in the, noncompliance.

we will continue to operate the treatment system as efficiently as possible, until the system is modified or replaced.
