September 26, 1987 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION ACTION 3.7.10.1.b.2.b NOTIFICATION SALEM NO. 1 DOCKET NO. 50-272 On September 25, 1988, the automatic actuation feature for both Fire Pumps was deactivated (pumps placed in manual).
The pumps' power supply, No. 22 Station Power Transformer was to undergo planned maintenance.
The pumps automatic actuation feature was deactivated to prevent inadvertent automatic actuation of either pump during the transfer of the No. 22 Station Power supply to an alternate power supply.
Although the automatic actuation featur~ for both pumps was inoperable for approximately 4.5 hours5.787037e-5 days <br />0.00139 hours <br />8.267196e-6 weeks <br />1.9025e-6 months <br />, the emergency pow~r feed to the pumps (24 VDC) was available and Site Protection Department personnel were stationed in the Pump House to actuate the pumps if required.
Upon completion of the power supply transfer, both pumps' automatic actuation feature was restored.
This notification is being made in compliance with Technical Specification Action Statement _3. 7.10.l*~b Sec.tion 2.b.
As required by Section ?.c, of the Action Statement, a written "Special Report" will be forthcoming within fourteen (14) days of t!li's event.
