SPECIAL REPORT ON SPARE CRDM WELD REFURBISHMENT SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NOS. DPR-70 AND DPR-75 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 In January 1988, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) personnel discovered several p'in hole leaks on six Salem Unit 1 spare Control Rod Drive Mechanism (CRDM) canopy welds.
PSE&G responded with a comprehensive corrective action program.
This program was communicated to NRC personnel during meetings held in King of Prussia, PA and Bethesda, MD on January 28, 1988 and February 4, 1988, respectively.
During these meetings, PSE&G committed to submit a Special Report summarizing our findings.
This Special Report is enclosed.
