RESTART OF SALEM UNITS 1 AND 2 SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 DOCKET NO. 50-272/50-311 As discussed with Mr. William Kane on October 23, 1987, we have voluntarily placed Salem Unit 2 in cold shutdown pending resolution of the Station's ability to reach safe shutdown under postulated external and internal hazards.

We will not restart Salem Unit 1 or 2 until we meet with the NRC and have satisfied any concerns which you may have.
