EA-18-008 The purpose of this letter is to confirm the position the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) is taking in response to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) tnspection Report 0500034612018010 dated March 9,2018. As instructed bythe lnspection Report, I verbally notified you on March 14,2018, that FENOC is not requesting a regulatory conference on this matter, and will not be submitting a written response. FENOC understands that by declining to submit a written response or to arrange a regulatory conference, the preliminary assessment of significance will become final, and that we relinquish our right to appeal the NRC's final significance determination of the issue.
