REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES RELATED TO INTERNATIONAL ATOMIC ENERGY AGENCY (IAEA) ACTIVITIES SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NO. 1 DOCKET NO. 50-272 This letter provides a description of certain itemized costs in support of IAEA activities and requests reimbursement for those expenses.

During the IAEA inspection visit of June 18, 1986, a fiberglass and aluminum OSHA certified extension ladder was provided for access to the seals placed above the equipment hatch missile shield concrete blocks.

In addition, safety harnesses were offered to the inspectors for their use.

The ladder and safety harnesses were used in compliance with the Salem Generating Station safety manual requirements.

The IAEA inspectors felt that this safety protection was inadequate.

Subsequently, the IAEA inspector requested that a scaffold be erected for their use for future inspection visits.

The scaffold has been erected and will remain in place on the equipment platform until the end of the safeguards period.

The cost for the erection of the scaffold is as follows:
