Dear Dr. Murley:
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION SALEM GENERATING STATION UNITS NOS. 1 AND 2 DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 Mr. Robert Winters of your staff identified two areas requiring clarification during a telephone conversation on September 26, 1985, between Messrs. C. P. Johnson and W. R. Schultz of my staff.
The required clarification, as provided herein, was reviewed with Mr. Winters by Mr. W. Schultz on October 4, 1985, and was found to be acceptable.
These clarifications will be incorp-orated in the next UFSAR change.
Paragraph 17.2.2 page 17.2-10 The revised section will be clarified to read:
"Personnel requiring certi-fication in accordance with Regulatory Guide 1.58 are limited to.... and members of the Operational Test Group (OTG) who perform post~qesign modification testing.
Personnel who perform visual examination in accordance with the Inservice Inspection Program are trained and certified in accordance with a program which meets the intent of SNT-TC-lA and ASME Section XI.
Paragraph 17.2.5, page 17.2-20 The last paragraph will be clarified to read:
"The. SQAE reviews and ap-proves selected station inspection plans and procedures for test, calibration, maintenance, modification and repair for designation of QA holdpoints in-accordance with the criteria established in-section-17.2.lQ".*
