SUPPLEMENTAL REQUEST FOR RELIEF FROM PUMP AND VALVE TESTING REQUIREMENTS OF 10CFR50.55a (g)
UNIT NO. l SALEM GENERATING STATION Pursuant to your letter dated April 12, 1983, we have amended our Pump and Valve In-Service Test Program to include Fire Protection and Emergency Diesel Generator Auxiliary Systems.
We have also made several changes to the Program based on NRC approved testing requirements of ASME Section XI, 1980 Edition and Addenda through the Winter of 1980.
These changes, for which we are requesting relief from the 1974 Edition and Summer of 1975 Addenda of ASME Section XI, are as follows:
- a.
The pump testing interval (subsection IWP) was increased from every thirty (30) days to every ninety (90) days.
- b.
The Category "E" valves (subsection IWV) testing requirements, as listed on Attachment No. 1, were removed from the IST Program. is a resubmittal of our entire IST Program incorporating the above modifications as well as the following general changes:

Added a list of Affected Pages for IST Revisions (Part 1, Item 1)
- b.
Revised the key to testing requirements (Part 3, Item 2).
- c.
Added valves due to plant modifications.
- d.
Added valves and upgraded valve categories as identified during our review of the IST Program.
Where relief for any valve added to the program is required, our justification is also included.
