January 31, 1984 JOINT ECONOMIC COMMITTEE JOINT COMMITTEE ON TAXATION SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTELLIGENCE The recent NRC annual review of the Salem Nuclear Plant reportedly resulted in an unsatisfactory rating in the area of plant operations.
We in Delaware have obviously been very concerned about operating practices at Salem and shared the frightening experience of last year's incident.
I would greatly appreciate your providing me with an explanation of the precise implications of your findings.
I would like to know how we can be assured that the Salem Plant is safe to operate and those with that responsibility are capable of operating it.
