Salem Generating Station Explanation of exclusions October, 1982 The following exclusions are included in the attached report and explained below. Exclusions have not endangered nor significantly impacted health or the environment.

DMR No. EXPLANATION 481 Total Suspended Solids - Correlation of influent and effluent analytical results indicates sampling technique or systematic flow related problems.

Continued net discharge of this magnitude is not feasible. Installation of an improved sampling system is in progress.

484 Total Suspended Solids - Correlation of influent and effluent analytical results indicates sampling technique or systematic flow related problems.

Continued net discharge of this magnitude is not feasible. Installation of an improved sampling system is in progress.

Effluent Temperature Differential -

Less than the design number of Circulators in operation.

486 Effluent Temperature Differential -

Less than the design number of Circulators in operation.

FAC Effluent Net Heat Release - Due to Two Unit operation.

87A BOD loading - System flow exceeds design capacity. Parallel Unit undergoing startup testing.

489 Total Suspended Solids - Exceeds effluent limitation due to inclement weather causing excessive runoff.
