SUPPLEMENTARY RESPONSE NRC COMBINED INSPECTION 50-272/81-23 AND 50-311/81-21 UNIT NOS. 1 AND 2 SALEM GENERATING STATION The PSE&G Task Force which was formed to review the Company's performance regarding the completion of' Design Change Packages which were erroneously reported as complete has recommended the following actions:
- 1.
Increased emphasis be placed on the Design Change Package walkdown process for verification of work completion.
- 2.
- C-nunediate discontinuance oi the verbal reporting of work completion a.nd the report;lng of work completion to be done only aftet field verification by field engineers or supervisors.
- 3.
Performance of an in-depth PSE&G Corporate Quality Assurance audit of the Plant Betterment and Maintenance Contractor's Quality Control Program.
- rtenis 1 and 2 have been implemented by a letter of instructions to the *contractor's
- Resident Project Manager at the Salem site.
The third item is complete and the final report will be available by February 1, 1982.
This report may be reviewed by your Resident Inspector, *Mr. L. Norrholm, at the Salem site shortly thereafter.
